10/31/15It's time for Halloween, which is a favorite holiday for a lot of people. Personally it isn't my favorite, but I don't hate it either. I enjoyed it as a kid, but now the stress of finding a great costume is too much for me. I feel like I am a creative person but not when it comes to costumes. If you are like me though, don't worry that is what Pinterest and Youtube are for. I picked some of my favorites ideas to share today, but I also am going to share some snack ideas, because who doesn't love a good snack, along with some other random little things. This post will just be a collection of all things halloween so hopefully everyone can get something useful out of it, and enjoy. Nothing is that scary, sorry to all you horror obsessed out there, but I personally do not like scary movies or being scared or anything like that, so I didn't include that sort of stuff in this post. This post is a reflection of how I see halloween and are things I would do, make, or wear.

Ok so I am starting off with some of the most cliché decor for fall which is painted pumpkins. I know everyone loves to paint pumpkins, but it is a really cute decoration idea. I especially like the designs on these pumpkins, they are not the easiest to recreate, but they look very cute and with some tape you can easily work them out. It also is practical decoration if you buy some fake pumpkins and paint them since you can reuse them year after year. I don't think painted pumpkins replaces carving pumpkins, simply because carving pumpkins is more of a fun activity than decor, but that's just me.

My family always carves pumpkins and when I was younger my family would get together with my cousins and we would carve pumpkins together as one big pumpkin carving party, which is a really fun idea. I totally recommend doing that if you are looking for a fun activity to do with friends or family. You can all make some crafts or some snacks and have a great time. Speaking of snacks I have two different snack ideas that are both very easy and very yummy.
This next recipe is even simpler and more self explanatory it is simple halloween themed puppy chow (or muddy buddies as the recipe calls it, however I am minnesotan and I say puppy chow). Here is the recipe, but like I said it is quite straight forward. Make puppy chow and add candy corn and reese's pieces, the recipe also added pretzels, but I think I would just stick with the candy addition. I mean if puppy chow wasn't sweet enough and addicting enough as it is this only makes it worse, but it is so good. Also if you haven't tried puppy chow before because you live in some weird part of the country that doesn't have this magical snack you MUST make this, you life will be changed.

The first are these candy corn pops, if you can't tell I think candy corn themed things look adorable, and they are often so simple. One of the pumpkins above is painted like a candy corn and there are dozens of other decor that is made to look like it. There is no such thing as too much candy corn themed things around halloween. Now I will be honest I haven't tried these yet, but I have been dying to and I think I am going to make them with my friend tonight. They sound delicious, because what can go wrong with a pudding pop? The recipe to make them is here, or you can just click on the picture. Like I said super easy, if you can make instant pudding you can make this snack.

Now I get that some people don't love all the sweets, but I personally have a big sweet tooth so I am all over these snacks. Of course you can't go wrong with a good pumpkin bar and cream cheese frosting if you ask me. I mean I will eat any time of the year but particularly in fall. Here is a tip as well, if you end up with extra cream cheese frosting, or you end up just making some since it is like he nectar of the gods you can make a quick and extremely delicious snack by just adding graham crackers. Graham crackers and cream cheese frosting are made for each other, it is so good. And it is somewhat healthy right because there is cream cheese in the frosting right? At least that is what I tell myself. Anyways like I was saying not everyone loves how there is so much candy and sweets around halloween, and I know some people don't like to hand out candy and try to find other things to give out instead. Now if you want to do this don't just hand out like popcorn balls, or pencils, or something boring like that. I found the perfect thing to give away that is not only fun for the kids and doesn't involve candy, but it is also insanely cheap, like super duper cheap, and it is glow sticks. Seriously on amazon a pack of 100 glow sticks are $10.00. Kids love them, and you can either hand them already glowing or non glowing ones, so that the kids can use them whenever. I have never had a kid not know what they are, and you don't have to worry about those annoying kids who want a certain kind of candy, or even having candy in your house. This avoids the whole problem, and if you get tons of trick or treaters you don't have to worry about breaking the bank just to hand something out. Also if you have left overs you just hand them out the next year, it is genius, and I am all for glow sticks at halloween.
Ok now onto the part that probably most of you guys have been waiting for and that is costume ideas. Now like I said I don't have anything scary, just simple fun costumes that can easily be made. Some are more cute, some are more funny and others are more creative. If none of these interest you simply just go to Youtube or Pinterest and you can see a million other ideas that are all great. This first two costumes are some of the more cute costume ideas, which are way more up my alley and they are fruit costumes. Specifically a strawberry and a pineapple, aren't they so cute? These costumes are both from the blog studio DIY, who actually has a ton of adorable DIY costume ideas for adults and children.
Now these next two are a bit more on the funny side and they are Cuzco and Yzma from the Emperor's New Groove. You could actually do Kronk too, but I just didn't put up a picture for that. I found both of these on a Buzzfeed post about Disney costumes. You can never go wrong with a Disney costume in my opinion. Although these costumes could take a bit more time, but don't worry these last two videos are all about last minute halloween costumes, because let's be honest more people put together costumes last minute, otherwise it is considered cosplay.

Ok now I picked this video because I loved the sadness costume from inside out, and I also thought they were just fun costumes in general. They are all very creative, but still simple enough that I could see myself making them. Now this last video is 30 last minute costume ideas, and I would say these costumes are more that you need a costume and you want it simple and fast. None of these are costumes are super original, but just by sheer number of possibilities it is helpful. If you were just invited to a costume party and you need something like asap, but you don't just want to reuse last year's costume this is the video for you.

Well hopefully this post was helpful to you a little, or at least fun to read, and I hope you all have a great halloween.
