10/3/15Alright guys so I want to tell you about my new love, and it is my clairsonic. Now it has been just over a month since I have started using my Mia 2, and although I do have a few negatives it is by far one of the best decisions I have ever made. My skin has never really been something I have loved, but since having this device I have seen lots of improvements and it has really helped me to take better care of my skin. My skin is currently the best it has even been, and I am very happy about it. I know that this may seem like old news since literally everyone and their mother has talked about it, but for a long time I hadn't really thought of using it, and it was only recently that considered giving it a shot. I know I am a few years behind on raving about clairsonic and giving a review, but I know when I was researching it I wanted to see as many reviews as I could before buying it, and so I thought I would add mine to the mix.

Even though I am sure there are tons of you out there who have heard of the clairsonic devices I thought I would bring it back since I am sure there may be some of you who haven’t heard of it, or haven’t thought to give it a try. Now because I follow beauty gurus on Youtube I had seen people talk about their clairsonics and include them in favorites videos or skincare videos but I hadn’t really thought that much about them until recently. I never took super good care of my skin, to be honest I was pretty bad. I wouldn’t rarely moisturize it, I would mostly just use cleansing wipes on my face and then just wash my face in the shower. However, because I was starting fresh with college this year I started to take more care of my skin this summer, and trying to combat the acne. It wasn’t until I was out shopping and I saw someone buying a clairsonic that it clicked and I thought to look more into getting the product since I knew it was good. Now you can go to their website for all the details, but basically it cleans 6 times better than washing with your hands alone, and it has glowing reviews everywhere you look pretty much. I was pretty sure I wanted it, but it can be hard to pay that much money for something, so I made sure to do a lot of research. I watched pretty much every video out there about the Mia 2 as a way to get as much information as possible as well as convincing myself to buy it. I had originally planned to ask for it for Christmas, but I ended up just buying it myself since I wanted it sooner than later.
The clairsonic came with the device itself, the charger, a travel case (which will be good for if I ever go on a trip), and a sample of the cleanser they sell (which I haven't used yet, but again it will be nice if I travel). Now because I ordered it from Macy's I also got some samples for spending over $100 dollars so that is something to consider when shopping for your clairsonic. They were nothing specular, but it is fun to get extra gifts.

Now I went with the Mia 2 since it has a built in timer, 2 settings (gentle and normal) as well as the fact that it is easier to hold that the original. Now I bought mine at Macy’s because they had a sale so it was cheaper than off the website, and I had heard bad things about ordering from Amazon, so I opted for Macy’s. Also this polkadot pattern is an exclusive to Macy's and if you know me you know I LOVE polkadots, so it was a match made in heaven, but unfortunately I think it may have sold out since I can't find it on their website, if you keep looking you may find it.

Let me explain a little about my skin type before I go onto the review of the Mia 2, just for some background. I would say I have normal skin that leans a little more on the oily side, but nothing extreme. By the end of the day my face is oily, but I would never buy matte products or anything to stop it. Now when it comes to acne I was way more fortunate than my sisters since they both had pretty severe acne. I definitely didn’t have cystic acne or even a ton of breakouts, but I still have had them occasionally, and I almost always have a pimple on my face. Almost all of my pimples are on my forehead or t-zone. I pretty much never had any pimples on my cheeks and I don’t think I have ever had one on my jaw. The most common place for me is in between my eyebrows or around that area. I also have clogged pores on my nose as well as just an overall bumpy forehead with some scaring, which we will get to later. So overall I wouldn’t say I had terrible skin, but it has always been something I have been self conscious of, and I have worn makeup to school since I was in middle school to try and help cover it up. What I expected the clairsonic to do was to prevent as many pimples from forming and to improve my overall skin texture. This is where I am a bit mixed on my review, but I am still testing it out, and I will make an update if this changes. However lets not get into all that just yet, I am going to start at the beginning and I will talk you through it.
So this is a photo of my skin before I started using the clairsonic. Now let me just say that it is so hard to take photos of your skin without looking weird so bear with me. Also all of these photos focus on my forehead since that is where it is easiest to see change, but I will talk about the rest of my face. When you start using your clairsonic at about week 2 or 3 you are supposed to have a skin purge, which basically means you get a breakout because it is pulling out all the gunk and if you push through that phase your skin will get better. Now when I started using the clairsonic I had my period, so the first few weeks were just all breakouts and I can’t really say which caused what, but I didn’t really get another purge later on, so that was different. I mean I am quite certain that the pimples on my forehead were the purge while the pimples I had on my chine were from my period since hormonal pimples are usually on my chin. Sorry if this isTMI.
Ok so this isn't really in the middle of my breakouts, but you can see the pimples and scaring on the right side from where my breakout was starting to go away. After the breakouts went away I still had a pimple here or there, but it was still much better than before. You can see a little change in overall texture of my forehead, but when I show yo the next picture I still have bumps and scaring on my forehead. Where I have seen the most change is actually on my cheeks, which isn't where I thought I would really see change since I don't get pimples there and I don't seem to have a texture issue, but they got smoother and started to have more of a glow to them. I know this sounds crazy, but it is true my cheeks had a sort of glow to them. The other big change I have seen is that my skin tone is more even, which is one of the main reasons I wear makeup on a regular basis. All my life I have had red rose cheeks with also a pink nose and forehead, and so it is so nice to have a more even skin tone. For these two things alone I love my clairsonic, and I think it is amazing, but it has underperformed in some aspects in my opinion.
Ok so this is my final picture and it is what my skin looks like on a regular basis now. More even skin tone, no current pimples, but there still is scaring, which leaves a texture on my skin. Now it is better than before, but because I had heard so many great reviews I was hoping it would do a little more. I am also still struggling with the clogged pores on my nose, again it is better than before, but I still say there is room for improvement. Now it has only been a month and I am going to continue using my Mia 2, I have only recently started using it twice a day so that may help as well if I give it some time. Now like I said before I am not using the cleanser the clairsonic came with, and I have just been using Cetaphil, which was what I was using before. Also Cetaphil isn't too harsh, so once I am done using the clairsonic my skin feels squeaky clean, but not like it is completely stripped. Overall I am impressed with my clairsonic and it has made so many improvements. I would 100% recommend it to people who want to improve their skin, but I would say just don't expect it to solve every problem. If I see a big change again or if something goes wrong I might make an update to this post, but for right now this is my review. It is worth the money, and you really can see a difference. I would actually recommend taking photos while you use the clairsonic because just going through photos today it really helped me to see a difference in my skin that I wouldn't have noticed otherwise.
