10/17/15Recently it was my cousin’s birthday and because I always make my own cards I thought I would share it with you guys. He is a boy and sometime people (including myself) have a hard time coming up with cards, but I usually just base the card off of inside jokes I have with my cousin because we are close. I don’t usually have too much trouble coming up with a card for him, but eventually everyone needs some inspiration. Now because this card is based off of an inside joke you may not be as helpful, but hopefully it can give you some inspiration and creativity if you need to make a card. Also you may be able to apply this inside joke to someone you know. The main reason why I wanted to share this card was because all of the paper and things I used to decorate it are things everyone will have, unlike some of my other cards where I use scrapbook paper. If you would like to see those other cards to get more inspiration here are the links: Father's day card, Mother's day card, and Birthday card.

Alright to start off I will explain the inside joke a bit so the card will make more sense. Me and my cousin grew up together, we are the same age, and we are very close. This means growing up we created many memories together, but my cousin is not as good at remembering them as I am, so his family refers to me as his memory bank, since I will remember things he has forgotten. Now I thought it would be funny to play off of the idea that I am a bank, so on the front of the card I put a fake bank/debit card that I made, obviously I had his name on the bottom, and for the sake of privacy I covered it up. The original card was just made of blue card-stock so to make it a bit more interesting I added a bit of teal paper.
I then obviously wanted to explain the card a little bit so my family helped me come up with this saying and the reason he was getting the card was for his loyal-ship. I typed out this part and tried to make it look like a letter from a bank or something, but I ended up adding some black corners to add a little something, because it was pretty boring.
My favorite part of the card is actually the inside. Here I made a receipt by simple just printing our a work document to look like it and then just cutting the edges with some scissors. I think it looks really realistic. And it helps tie the card together. Again I have a big gray blob where all my family signed just for privacy reasons. Now you amy be thinking this isn't easily adaptable like I said before, but I think you could easily do this if you are someone who always remembers things for your friend. You can put on the front "For all these years I have remembered things for you I am starting to feel like I am a memory bank, and decided to make you a membership card" or something like that. Or you could use the receipt idea and say "I was going to give you 1,000 dollars in cash for your birthday but the bank wouldn't allow me, so this gift card will have to do" and then put on the receipt something a bank would say like " insufficient funds for this procedure" or something like that. I am sure you guys are way more creative than I could be. If nothing else I hope this inspired you and you will go and make your own cards more since it is always fun to get a personalized card.
Finally I am going to end with a little update, because I feel we need to catch up. Now if I am honest this isn’t one of my favorite blog posts since I have revamped my blog, and I have a bit of an explanation for this or an excuse whatever you want to call it. Homework has begun to catch up with me and with busy weekends it can be difficult to work it all out. This has been my busiest weekend since I have stated school and it has also been one of the most homework heavy ones since I have five English essays to revise. I will actually have to revise 5 English essays each week until about Thanksgiving, and although I will try and get them done during the week, Some of the time I would normally spend preparing and writing a blog post will now be replaced by homework. I just wanted to give an update to let you know. I wish I could spend more time on my blog, and I hope to get back to making quality posts, but we will just have to see.
